this is a steno book, and also the steno book from the piece [phone # redacted, get my digits at the bar]

Look, lots of people consider the media ‘sinister’ … and in my case, they’re correct, bb. Since I’m left handed and still use pen and paper, I’ve carried a steno book my whole career. So periodically I’ll be lifting the cover on said pads and giving you some lil details about previous stories. Welcome to Steno Book, sluts.

Jaws vs Lyon

– since its our first time, let’s start slow and simple. What you see above is how my interviews with a subject look. Unlike q&a pieces like the ones I’ve run here, when I’m doing an article I see no need to transcribe the whole thing. Instead, I take notes and use handwritten time stamps that I can then go back to when I want something.

– see those stars? I put asterisks next to thing I know I’ll want later; a particularly dope quote, an important scene, something I want to make sure I don’t forget to include — it’s my hand across the lens.
